Dell D820 - Standby Icon in Power Down is Greyed out???

Hi Folks,

I had a similar thread back in March, but still no joy.

When I go to power down, the 'Standby' selection is greyed out.

What could cause this?

Dell D820 Win XP SP3

Thanks,

Tim

Where would I enable it?

Hi QHN,

Well, I don't have a 'performance and maintenance' tab under the control panel, just 'power options'.  (running XP).

In the power options, there are the various power configurations, but no ability to enable or disable the standby or hibernate function.

There is a selection under the advanced tag that you can select what to do when the cover is closed.  If you select 'hibernate', then 'apply', close the window, then re-open that window, the selection is back to  'do nothing'.  It did not keep the hibernate selection.

However, I think this is a more systemic issue than just a selection in the power options area.

PLEASE prove me wrong!  :-)

Thanks,

Tim

We can try next reviewing your Computer Properties (devices manager) and see if ACPI is activated

Hi qhn,

Well, I'm gonna bit the bullet & reload XP.  IE8 was acting kind of wierd as well, so I'm reloading XP on a 2nd D820.  Once that is done, and I get all my data transferred, I'll run a clone of the hard drive.

Thanks!

Tim
