Dell Inspiron 1525 refuses charge

Thread Starter

My Dell Inspiron 1525 won't charge, or when I plug it in, it won't register the charger.  I replaced the battery today, and it still has the same behavior.  Also, I purchased the laptop over four years, ago, but I'm not sure of an exact number.  My power plan in High Performance because it won't charge on the other power plans.

Any ideas?

The charger itself? Normal with Dell machines (and others)

That's what I was thinking, but I thought I would get some opinions from people who know a bit more about Dell hardware than myself.

If you can borrow a charger from someone with the same model, it would be great. But a 4 years machine is good candidate for parts replacements

I tried using a different charger, but it still won't charge.

Dell machines are very picky. Must be (almost always) a Dell certified charger, don't go for cheap 3rd party replacements (hit and miss)

I'll see what I can do. I'm winging it with a HP charger from one of my folks.

Where can I find one? I've been searching it but I can't find anything Dell certified.

eBay - make sure that you get a seller with good reputation and a good warranty winknudge.gif

I see... You said not to get a 3rd party charger...

Find something on eBay, then use Amazon to compare the price. Could be a few bucks more but Amazon has a better customer support rate

eBay do offer Dell official chargers, just not direct from Dell ... $$$$$ you see?

Ah... I thought you meant direct from Dell... That'll save me at least thirty.

You probably pay a bit more for postage, but if anything happens, you'll get better after-sales support

How do I get an aftersales report?
