ASUS K55VD - LCD Color Issue

Hi I bought ASUS K55VD, and I noticed that the color of this laptop is not accurate. from my old laptops (lenovo, dell), I never adjusted the color management and looks ok. But in this ASUS K55VD, the color on the screen is somewhat bluish - the grey on the other monitor is bluish grey on my ASUS K55VD

I used this image as a sample to compare the ASUS K55VD LC and my AOC 2251w.
http://www.uylee.com/images/colorcompare.jpg

On ASUS K55VD - the grey part is bluish grey, while the darker part appear as violet
On AOC 2251w and other monitors and laptops - it looks normal .
-AOC 2251w is my 2nd monitor to extend the display.

Now, I tried to calibrate thru color management, it fix a little bit, but when I restart the laptop, it went back to orignal settings (grey = bluish grey). Tried to set it to default profile but still the same.

Can somebody tell me if there's a work-around to fix this issue? wink.gif

Thanks in advance.

If I remember correctly we have the same complain about this ASUS model screen display colour not too long ago. It's a feature tongue.gif

I doubt that you can do anything with the calibration since it is a notebook LCD. Sure there is some sort of playing with gamma, bla bla in some drivers but it is not worth much.

Thanks, qhn.. yes, this is the second ASUS K55VD. The computer supplier where I got the notebook gladly replace the unit, and the screen is the same.

Almost all colors are identical between this ASUS K55VD and my AOC 22" Monitor. Except for
- grey = become bluish gey
- white = with slightly yellowish ( if you look closely )
- red = slightly fades (if you look closely)

I tried to play the ASUS Splendid around but no avail.

I notice, and can confirm that my Samsung S2 smartphone using the Amoled screen and has some sort of yellowish and blueish (presentation) as you mentioned. But I haven't read anything about amoled screen for notebooks other than some prototype from Samsung.

Saying all that, it is my suspicion that some sort of new screen is being floated out there without consumers knowledge. Speculating, as always tongue.gif

Don't know what to tell you other than either live with it and keep playing with different drivers settings, or replace the comp. I am stopping short of suggesting replacing the screen with another one because it doesn't always work out with a different part number

Sorry I am not much of help in this issue. I was trying to find the specifications for the LCD and could not even find (so far) a place where one can buy one mellow.gif

Hopefully other members can chip in with some ideas.

I am hopeful that some K55VD users can post their experience and comments smile.gif

smile.gif It's all in the eyes of the beholders. Some people has no issue with certain screen presentations where others do.

As long as apps colours don't get too distorted, it might be fine to use.

Hello

I bought 2weeks ago also an asus k55vd. I have also the same problem with my lcd screen.

My screen doesn't show the right colours. Also grey colours. I was a little bit disappointed of that... but on the external monitor, the colours are great.

I think that the lcd screen issue is not fixable...even if you replace it with a new screen.

that's the only negative point i can see. For the rest, i love my Asus laptop, great performance, and great looks.
