Once again I am in turmoil over confusing technical problems. I bought a fairly decent Acer 24" monitor around a month or so ago and have been having problems with it since I bought it. There is nothing faulty with the monitor itself but it seems that my ATI Graphics driver doesn't like the monitor at all. To explain what occurs; when I have my monitor plugged in and set to extended desktop, It shows my laptop display as the primary, and the monitor as secondary. However, only half of the monitors screen is visible, (top half fine, bottom half black or even desktop wallpaper sometimes. My mouse can go over that area but when I actually use the monitor I can see anything above that black half. I have had it working before but I have no idea what I did exactly. I think I have installed my latest driver updates thinking that would fix the issue but alas it didn't. Heck my power saving GPU with the same laptop works with it so it definitely isn't anything wrong with the computer itself. It simply seems that there is something wrong with the driver that is causing it but I have no idea what. The monitor itself works on its own or as dual display but as extended it doesn't want to work
My graphics card is the ATI mobility radion 6770m
My monitor is an Acer 240HL LCD Monitor
Any help would be awesome.
Just to be a bit clear. this is what it looks like.
Laptop display as primary:
What the secondary display shows (monitor)
