Bad 9600 Pro Card? - Page 2

I wasn't worried about I9100's dimensions, only wanted to allow for fair comparisons.

Still on the subject of sizes, most people preferred the previous form factor of I8200/C640, especially compared to the earlier form factor of I7000 15" (HWD): 63 x 328 x 267 mm, 4.0 kg. Yes, it was much thicker than I9100! And a really ugly beast! (Somebody may have links to pictures.) On the other hand, I7000 was one of the first machines with a 15" screen of good quality, and quite powerful in its time (I used one happily for three years).

Lol, agreed.

But everyone has there own sense of taste and style, so if you like what it looks like, and are satisfied with its performance, then all the more good for you.

It depends on the criteria that is important to you... I simply wanted the most powerful laptop available to me (In Australia we don't have the XPS).

If Acer built it I would have bought Acer, If Compaq had the most powerful I would have bought Compaq. I don't have any unfounded loyalty to any particular company, however, Performance wise nothing else I have seen in stores or in the hands of friends comes close to what my 9100 can produce.

In my opinion, and I appreciate it is only my opinion, but after having the 9100 for a few weeks, everything else looks like a toy!

Well, I am in Australia and have seen one (but only one) that gets about the same performance as the i9100 but is smaller, looks better and is a bit cheaper too.
The G556, a "generic" type one rebranded by I-Tech. It has a "Dolphin Centrino" (, I still can't believe that), MR9700, 15", etc.... Have a look here (note there are more options you add for RAM, HD ,etc).
A collegue of mine at Uni has it and it is fantastic, only reason I didn't consider it (it came out about when I ordered my i8600) was I really wanted the widescreen.
But yeah, that's the only one I have seen thus far that match up to the i9100, the plus side being more portability in every respect at the cost of minimal performance.

Didn't see that one Stu, It looks pretty good, Protac make reliable laptops, One of the guys at work has a 2.2ghz excel and it hasn't let him down in over 12 months.

It looks nice, but looks are always subjective and a matter of opinion... and the widescreen would have swayed me anyway....

And the subwoofer!!

Yeah, like I said it was the looks and widescreen of the i8600 that swayed me too. I was just pointing out that there are other powerful laptops out there available to Australians for a reasonable price .

welli love my i8600 Is very compact which is very important to me IF u seen what i carry on a reg. but the I9100 is just too big one and is has a P4 which means u would need a outlet all the time.it loooks like a supersize I8600. Well my Lap has all the power it needs. If i can run photoshop, dreamweaver, MS outlock MS work, MS powerpoint, 3 different IE, Antivirus, firewall, Du meter, MSN,AOL Instan messagers and alot of other programs with only 1.3ghz and 1GB of mem then i dont y i need a P4 that would make my battery about 1 hr. and while all this is runing there is not that much of a lag. the only one the give me lag is photoshop. and the must be that is just the way that photoshop works (keep in mind that i have a mir 1.3Ghz). i still break my back with all the thingi carry but at least i can enjoy a DVD movie like LOTR.
