Hard drive upgrade- HP Pavilion dv6000

Thread Starter

Hey everybody,

I was just given an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv6149us (Windows XP, Intel Centrino Duo processor) with no hard drive (apparently the old one crashed). I'm looking for a new hard drive for it, and was just hoping for some advice on this forum.

So far, the best bang for the buck seems to be this Western Digital Scorpio Black with 750gb memory, 7200 rpm and 16mb cache for about $80.

Is this too much for this laptop, and should I actually be looking for something that's not as powerful? Memory's important to me, and I would prefer to have 750gb, but don't want to go lower than 500gb. I also want it to be as fast as possible, but am not sure if there are other limiting factors that prevent a better hard drive from operating at or close to full capacity.

Here's the info on the laptop:

Serial number: CNF6460XXJ

Product number: RG372UA#ABA

The following link shows what could potentially be the rest of the specs:

Any help would be appreciated, and let me know if you all need any more information to help me with this decision.

Thanks,

Daniel

That drive should be fine, giving you plenty of disk space
