worth upgrding? hows the battery life vs the AMD
post #4 of 16
AMD is cool, can't say and won't get into arguments about battery life winknudge.gif

How much of an (performance) upgrade are you looking at here? One can't do much on 11" systems with integrated graphic unless you really want to jump over to the "business" 11" model

so it sounds like stay with the 1120, too much hassle to switch everything over to a 1121, plus i would have to buy one and sell the 1120

it also sounds like the gpu is better in the 1120. cant decide what to do!

How is your upgrade plan going? Parts ordered? If yes, perform the upgrades and then see

the m4 ssd will be here tomorrow. not gonna bother swapping everything to a 1121. if the ssd doesnt make a big difference i can always send it back. the cost was adding up too much, i could just buy a new lappy for buying a 1121, and the SSD. also, im gonna move to a 13" when i eventually get an ultrabook.. just going by my WEI, the bottleneck is the amd chip, not the hdd, hdd is at 5.9

well the ssd didnt work out with this system, even with the updated firmware i kept getting system hangs. crucial took it back no problem.

back to comparing the 1120 to the 1121, i found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Inspiron-m101z-Core-i3-Ultraportable-Laptop-Ultrabook-10-2-/300844622828?pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item460bbca3ec

and if you look at the windows experience index (i know not the best way to judge performance) the 1121 has a score of 2.3 as seen here Processed By eBay with ImageMagick, R1.1.1.||B2||T0JKX0lEPTVjYTFhYjFlYTQ0NzI0NGIwNTBjYzQ1Y2JkNGI1MjA1MGVkYTVhMzBmZDdjfHxTRUxMRVJfTkFNRT13ZWlkb25nODEzfHxPUklHSU5BTF9FQkFZX1FVQUxJVFlfU0NPUkU9NHx8Q1JFQVRJT05fREFURT0xLzEwLzEzIDg6MTggUE0=

thats with 6gb of ram, my 1120 with 8gb of ram gets a score of 3.7. so i guess the amd version is a little faster, if anyone was wondering. the 1121 i posted above also has an ssd, while mine has the original 7200rpm samsung drive back in it. i am guessing its the amd graphics giving it the better score.
