Re: Document converted into WORD

Whats the procedure for converting a printed leter into Microsoft Word so that it can be edited? We have been screwing around wth this for about 13 months and still cannot get it to work. After the document is scanned OCR program changes everything around respells words that are correct etc, etc. Either this is real basic and everyone knows how to do this or theres not alot of call for it-any suggestions would be great! Unfortunately, Brems, there is no reliable solution for Scan-to-Text out there, despite all the claims made.
I have found that Acrobat and it's downloadable plug-in (PaperCapture) are better than most packages at OCR feats. Granted, it is no where near perfect (as you've discovered the others not to be as well).
If you have a copy of Acrobat, go to Adobe's website and download the Paper Capture plug-in and give that a shot (the plug-in is free, acrobat is not). Again, this is NOT the Acrobat READER, this is the FULL version of Acrobat (the one you can create documents with/scan/etc).
Hope this helps,
