Key "Stuck" in Windows 7 boot?

Thread Starter

I've been using Windows 7 on my laptop since I purchased it, and have never faced such a problem. Recently, whenever I turn it on, a loud beeping noise emanates as Windows is about to boot after the BIOS starts up, and the computer hangs. Upon turning it off and restarting, Windows loads normally except in the user log-in screen, characters start typing continuously as if a key in my keyboard is stuck, which is weird because none of the keys are stuck. Upon pressing a key (e.g., BACKSPACE) the continuous self-typing immediately stops and everything becomes normal. I can't tell which key is being typed continuous because as we all know the password characters are masked as dots. This is really bugging me. Please help!

How old is the comp? Maybe it is coincidence, but taking the keyboard out and cleaning it might not be a bad idea

One thing you can try out is hooking up an USB keyboard

cheers ...
