Hi all, I have just bought a HP Pavilion Dv6-7030tx for $904 plus $116 for extended warranty (to make it 3 years). I looked heaps into laptops and got this cheap as it was suppose to be an opend box to show a customer. But after I took it home I noticed it had a password, I realized it was on display. I complained and got it for the price I stated above. I was happy with the purchase. I only got it a couple days ago. Just before, I noticed I could get a Toshiba Satelite P870-027 for $1195 plus whatever extra it will cost to extend the warranty.
Basically, the HP Pavilion has the same processor and graphics card as the Toshiba, but the HP is a 15"6 inch Full HD with 8 gig ram, a blu-ray player and DVD burner, with 1TB HDD. Thje Toshibia Satelite P870-027 is a 17"3 inch Full HD with 16 gig ram, a blu-ray burner with 1.5 TB HDD and also comes with a TV-tuner whereas, the HP doesn't.
I had a HP Pavilion DV7 and after 1 1/2 years, the graphic card died. After that, I got am ASUS 17inch and after 2 1/2 years, the screen got a blue vertical line on the right-hand-side of the screen and the screen had faded in that area. A couple months later, it just completely died and I couldn't even start it. Thats why I am looking for another (with an extended warranty as both laptops ran out of their warranty about 6 months before it died. I use the laptop in the house, generally on the couch so I don't generally need to transport it. I don't play games. I download a fair bit. Would like to get into video / photo editing etc. Can get the programs for that. The HP I just bought is aprox $300 less. Or aprox $200 less if I don't get the extended warranty on the Toshiba. But the Toshiba has a larger screen with a blu-ray burner, 8 gig ram more, 500gig more HDD and has a TV tuner. Will I need all these extras? Probably not. But I do like the larger 17"3 inch screen and the blu-ray burner will probably come in handy.. Is the Toshiba worth paying an extra $300? Or roughly $200 more than the HP without the extended warranty?
After both my previous laptops died on me. I think the extended warranty is worth it. Hows the difference in quality of the HP Pavilion Dv 6-7030tx and the Toshiba Satelite p870-027?

I'm assuming I can get a refund of the Hp because my g/f isn't happy that they lied to me. I am hoping I can get some advice off people. Quality between the Toshiba Satelite vs the HP Pavilion. The overal package.. value-for-money? etc. Your comments will be much appreciated. \ Cheers!
