Upgrade 1720, Bluetooth Oh,Oh

I've decided to upgrade my old 1720 (win 7x64) because I really like it and I'm cheap. First, I upgraded the RAM to 6 Gb, no trouble. Then, I thought, self, why not give yourself a real headache and add a bluetooth capability. Bought a 355 Truemobile advertised on ebay as fitting the 1720. Pried up the top cover, yup, there's the wire, connected the adapter, no sweat. Opened Bios, down to wireless, set bluetooth to enabled, exited and glory, the bluetooth light on the right upper panel is on (always off before) and windows loaded the adapter drivers. Checked in Device Manager and there she be. Now, the best part, I thought, was a great sale on a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook 5000 mouse. I grabbed it up and that's when the 5-minute job changed to hours. As directed, I put in two batteries, and prepared the mouse for discovery by the lappie by pressing a couple of buttons. I guess it didn't want to be discovered! The instructions said to mount the device and suggested Control Panel, so I did as I was told. Unfortunately, when I asked it to find new hardware it just sat there, no entries. I tried to pair it with an ipod touch to no avail. This darn thing does not want to be paired despite indications the hardware parts are working. What to do, what to do? Is it the adapter or the mouse? Help would be appreciated.

Thanx in advance
Chuck

I hate answering myself, but I solved the problem. First, thanx for the site, it was the one I was using although its generic mouse setup leaves a lot to be desired. So, what did I do wrong? Some time ago while trying desperately to save memory and time I used Black Viper's idea to delete some services. Guess I don't have to go on. A quick check showed Bluetooth disabled so no radio signal was send from lappie to mouse.BTW, I love this "no dongle" idea. Give it a try, you'll love it!
