Hey good news mate, happy to hear. Hate to burst your bubble tho, i remind you that the replacement secondary battery worked for me at first - around 2 weeks in fact. So don't be too happy just yet. In any case i do hope it works out for ya. If it doesn't, then I think you're looking at the same situation as myself. It might be a fault with the actual computer - mine seems to break batteries... i hope yours doesn't!!! blushing.gif

nope, i mentioned above that the secondary battery didn't work when i received the lap[top... then i had the first few issues but they sent me the replacement secondary battery quite quickly and without much ado - as with you. that oen worked well for 2 weeks, then suddenly the same problem reappeared, and even though windows detects the secondary battery, it won't switch to it. so effectively my computer seems to have caused the battery malfunction (otherwise it's hard luck that both batteries have failed. i don't think i'm that unlucky, to be honest. smile.gif

and so, after much ado, my computer has been picked up. After having requested the pick up for last friday, the 2nd of November, it has been picked up on the 7th. Great news. azz.gif

i never expected it to be so tedious, and i seriously hope it helps in some way or another, they better be able to sort out my laptop so that it works. otherwise i will get an optical drive and scrap the whole idea of added flexibility with a secondary battery. mellow.gif sigh

well theyve had my laptop since thursday or friday last week, so i'm expecting some information regarding the repair/troubleshooting status at some point today -- they said they would call to discuss the situation -- am feeling a bit sceptical though. i have the funny feeling they will just try another battery, and will then see that it works and say "done deal" and send it back.

i promise you now, if that happens, i will call them - ANGRY censored.gif - and tell them to pay me the difference between battery and optical drive and that they should send me an optical drive. bored.gif
sigh.

Ok so I ended up speaking to one of the technical people (from the actual returns department who do the troubleshooting/repairs, I was told... And he said that it seems like this battery problem seems to have come up with a lot of laptops "of the same age", roughly... he said it seems to be a faulty batch of batteries. He mentioned that a new batch of batteries had arrived recently and that he would make sure I get one from the new batch, as it seems that my replacement secondary battery was from the same batch as the initially delivered one/
If this one also fails, he said, then they would expect to have to make a new computer to make sure that the problem doesn't persist, or that they would then simply do as I suggest (if I request it) and send me an optical drive so that I don't need a secondary battery at all (this is the less ideal option for me, of course.

in any case, they couldn't find any fault with the computer, so once they've made sure the secondary battery works they will be sending it back. I'll probably get it back this week, and I will test the hell out of that secondary battery.

Shrimp OUT.

PS: have a nice day.

I would give them the benefit of the doubt on the batteries batch. It does indeed happen. Good luck

Well today my 2nd battery stopped working after only 1 or 2 cycles of use, I'll phone up Novatech tomorrow and see what they say thumbdown.gif

Beginning to get pissed off now, its the only problem with this laptop but one of the main reasons I bought it.

Call them up, show them this thread laugh4.gif Let's see if the new battery in the newest batch works out for Shrimp

Yeah i was gonna say - novatech did say that my replacement secondary battery had come from the same batch as the originally built-in one, so it's quite possible that yours was also? My laptop still hasn't arrived, am hoping it will tomorrow... sorry to hear yours failed tho, was hoping i was the only one having to deal with this crap.
Ah well. If you do call them, do as Q suggests and refer them to this forum or point out that when i sent in my computer no fault was found on it. Do then as i did and tell them to ensure that they replace the secondary battery with one from the newest batch. I'm hoping that'll do the trick for both of us. huh.gif
Good luck dude!!!
