so, first cycle discharge after receiving it... and it FAILS

wth is this!?!??

i'm actually in london from today til sunday, so you can bet i'll be getting in touch with them with a less-than-friendly tone. i think i've had it, and will just tell them to send me the optical drive here to my brother's address. and ghost - i suggest you do the same. i think the 2nd battery story with novatech is never-ending. I see no end to it, and definitely no solution. unless they come with some brilliant solution to my issue i'm gonna go ahead with the optical drive option.

i'm fed up, don't want to deal with this anymore. censored.gif

This is not good news,

 

My dad spoke with them yesterday and I have to send the 2nd battery back again which will probably fix the problem then it will by the looks of it fail again. An Optical drive is useless to me tbh.

 

I really need the 2nd battery though. this situation is very frustrating as other than that the laptop is Fantastic.

HA.

(sorry about being off the radar for a while, been working hard and not really spending much time online in the evenings.)

so, funny story. the battery i got in london - battery number 4 - has just failed.

i'm fed up. but as you say, Ghost, the optical drive is useless for us - we wanted the 2nd battery and the laptop is worth nothing to us without it.

i'm off to barcelona tomorrow to spend some time with my dad, but i will call them monday morning from spain and tell them to send me another battery - after all, they did tell me that they will keep sending me batteries until i get one that doesn't fail. they said to me last time that it's a "known design fault and it is being worked on by our suppliers". something about these batteries having an extra relay to protect them from overcharging. my guess is that once the switch "protects" the battery, it fails to switch back to operating mode, thus rendering it completely useless.

in any case, i will keep you posted.

Current Status: battery number 4... and counting. censored.gif

hmm, I sent my battery back ages ago and neither my father nor I have had anything from novatech. I'm home from uni now and novatech is just up the road. Tbh I think I'm gonna try get my money back as if the 2nd battery is never going to work whats the point. I'll probably then get a cheaper laptop instead and then a desktop to do some gaming on.

hey mate - do you want to private message me your skype or something and we can then have a chat? i've just told them to send me another one today, they've dispatched it today already to germany - maybe you gotta use the chat or something to get a direct reply to you query - and then send the conversation to your email address ( you have the option to do so) for archiving, so you can use it at a later date if need be...
over the phone they told me that they will keep replacing batteries until i have what i paid for, at which point i will ask for some form of compensation for the worries i've had... and it seems like they're true to their word. didn't even need to insist.

Thanks for the offer but don't worry about it at the minute.

 

My dad went in there today to ask whats happened and apparently the one i sent back worked(it definitely didn't) and they had then done nothing about it. They've arranged for a new one to be sent there tomorrow so hopefully I'll have the new one tomorrow. Then we'll see how long this one lasts.......

Working so far......

Well I picked the battery up on wednesday and now have 3 discharge cycles on it with no problems apart from on one of them it died with 45% left but then still works no so no idea.

 

Hopefully this one lasts, It will probably fail once I'm back at uni censored.gif

Hello Everyone!

welcome back to the routine of work and disliking work laughing.gif.

just to keep you all updated:

the holidays went well, am now detoxed and all... and back at work, urgh azz.gif

however, it's now been 5 cycles or so and the battery is working fine, i installed the new battery just before new years when i got back from barcelona, and so far nothing negative to report, am pleasantly surprised and quite happy - i hope it lasts. dance2.gif
