Sound problems with laptop

Thread Starter
So, I endured my laptop getting very noisy at startup.so I decided to clean and discovered there was a lot of dust. but that did not solve the problem so I decided to clean more throughly and discovered even more dust. that did not fix it so I decided to open up the fans and not only cleaned dust, but also removed some eyelashes/hair that was in the fans.
yet that did not solve it so I decided to clean also by dislodging the fans and cleaning the base.
I did that but...

-I'd say that in certain moments it makes even MORE noise than before, almost a rattling? which subdues if I tilt the laptop.

-a small bolt was disloged, so I tried to use tweezers to get it (non-magnetized)
as I moved them in the narrow space however a small spark happened. I hope I did not break anything.

I am almost positive I did not touch the HDD nor the GPU (I hope) and now the fans don't emit that much hot hair, but honestly I wonder if I have not made things worse. any idea? I tried to run the Windows performance index and it's the same as before.

Still running smoothly? Count your blessings then. Any spark during tinkering is always bad winknudge.gif

AFAIK yes. I'll try some heavy apps like Skyrim.

Crossing my fingers for you. But if ii not making some weird stuffs by now, it should be alright.

weird stuff such as?

shutting down, overheating ... anything that is out of sync from "previous" normal doing

thanks.. I tried twice the Performance asset test and it completed itself succesfully. I'll decide for the memory diagnostic next boot as well.
and I think the air is less hot than before.

perhaps it's being all this noisy now because I tightened too much the screws of fans?
What do you mean by "tightening too much"? Those fan screws are made in such a way that when it stops, the springs have the correct pressure to keep the fan down on top of the chips winknudge.gif

well the actual fans don't use screws to be in place, just a magnetized bar to put in a hole. I mean those of covers.
and subscores for CPU and ram actually got a 0,1+ while GPU got a 0,1-....

Interesting ... you have some pics of the fan assembly? Or just the notebook model?

had a temperature shutdown after sound signals. it is overheating again!

Sound signals causing the comp to shut down? Or is it producing a sound at shutting down?

the sound signals preceded the shutdown.
it was an overheating, by mistake I had disconnected, of like, 1 millimiter, the cable for one of the fans. attached it and it was sending air again at boot time. had the hand near the vent so I don't think I'm wrong.
I'm going to leave the laptop open for the evening, however, with windows assesments and SpeedFan test on.

Cool. Hope that was it (cable) winknudge.gif

monitoring and doing SpeedFan and Windows Assesment together. no signal so far and air is flowing. checking temperatures with speedfan and all 3 HDD are ok.
considering that 3 times before it possibly had already started beeping before shutdown I feel you kept your fingers crossed, I could have messed up real bad. I doubt that, unless I open the lid again, it's going to disconnet itself, right?

doing extended test with speedfan BTW.

windows assessment test out, no signal, no shutdown. and definitely it's cool to the touch where it was extremely hot just, like, one of the times beforehand. I guess I saved my ass.

air output from vents kinda the same.

if I find the laptop off when I am back it will mean I messed up. if not, I'm a lucky guy :P

Re-route the cable so that it has some play before putting it back together? 1mm should not have shortened the cable that bad
Clevo earlier models are notorious bad on heat dissipation. I used to bore (2mm) holes on the lower casing around the fan assembly, the battery holder and even the hard drive cover to get some extra air in

no, I mean I had probably disloged the fan cable from the motherboard by like, 1 mm, or I kept closing it with the lid, so no power reached it. tried fastening it to the small white jack and put it correctly and so far, so good. hope I am not mistaken.

Got ya. Well, fingers crossed. But I am sure that things should be fine now, right? winknudge.gifheadbang.gif
