Is there any program which can control Acer 5830G's fan?
My temps while gaming can reach 80C
Is it still safe temp for an i7-2620M?

Just use ACER power management utility - 80C is on the low-high side of the curve, and ok when gaming tongue.gif

Thanks for reply...

I have tried to open Acer epower but nothing happens when I click on:DefaultPowerOption, ePowerEvent, ePowerMsg, ePowerTrayLauncher

...
How to open it? And if epower isn't power managment utility, can you give me download link?

btw
Would Call of Duty Black Ops 2 work on my Acer 5830G (i7-2620M, GT 540M 2GB, 1366x768-high settings)?

And if not, would it work on my desktop (Athlon 64 X2 6000+, GTS 450 1GB DDR3, 3GB RAM, 1280x1024-high settings)?

I would like to get about 35-40 FPS on both.

Thanks.

Acer Support Site have what you need here:

http://support.acer.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=3828

Use this site to plug in the games in question and it should give you a better prognosis whilst checking your system:

From the Acer link above, there is a User Guides tab. Download it smile.gif

Sorry if I'm annoying you... I really need to manually control the fan to reduce CPU temp...

I downloaded user guide:Quick Start Guide, User Manual and I didn't find anything about epower,

only about P button which turns on battery saving.

Sorry,

There are a few apps out there like Notebook Hardware Control or SpeedFan that might work with your model. Some manufacturers offer their own version like Dell (I8kfanGUI) per example, some don't. Give them a shot and see, my take is that keeping your system clean, elevated ... then you should not have to worry about overheating. Each system is built with the safe working temp range up to 110C

I tried speedfan-doesn't work for my model, NHC is for 32-bit system only.

I still can't run Acer epower apps.

Thanks for your patience and quick answers !

Look into your process /task manager) list and see if there is "acer epower management.exe" running. If yes, then it is already active. It works in the background and manages / balances power usage and performance for your applications and your comp. Nothing more needs to be done smile.gif

There is no  "acer epower management.exe" process running.

I have already seen that but didn't help

Thanks anyway.

Sorry. But that the best you can use within Acer system management. You can try using balance power setting so not to push the CPU to the max. Not sure if that would bring down the temp. The other possible things to do is to use a better thermal paste (Artic Silver 5 or IC Diamond) and/or a notebook cooler when gaming.

My temp reached 89C (i7-2620M) with turbo enabled. How bad is it? {Is it bad for socket?}

I heard: "Intel CPUs shut down if core reaches 125C so 90C wouldn't hurt anything." Is it true?

btw my GPU (GT 540M) reached 71C. Is it high for Fermi GPU?

93C was my max temp

cheers...

Your temp is well within working-performance range. Actually that is quite good smile.gif

@xfim

I recommend to open laptop. clean the fan cooler from dust and put new thermal paste on the cpu

a thin film is fine

thats perfect for every laptop

you can´t control the fan manually

and if, you get a lot of stuff broken!

I will not open it because it is still new and has guarantee...

So 85-90C is not bad and I don't have to worry about it?

cheers...
