MSI GE70 or ASUS N76?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy a new laptop, upgrading from my 7-year old Dell 9400 (still going strong).

The two I have in mind are:

MSI GE70 0ND-055UK

http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-GE70-17-3-inch-i7-3630QM-Graphics/dp/tech-data/B009E32UR0/ref=de_a_smtd]MSI GE70 0ND 17.3-inch Full HD Gaming Laptop (Chief River i7-3630QM 2.4GHz, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, Blu-ray, Nvidia GeForce 2GB GTX660M Graphics Card, Windows 7 Home Premium): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

Asus N76VJ

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-N76VJ-17-3-inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B009REFFRS/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

I'm looking to spend between £800-£900 and need to have a HD 17" screen.

The MSI has better spec but I've heard the build quality is pretty terrible, as is their customer service. On the other hand, although the ASUS has worse spec, it makes up for it in build quality and good customer service.

Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with either of these laptops that could offer any help or advice?

Many thanks!

(PS: should I wait till after christmas/new year before purchasing? Will the price drop/new models be released?)

I don't know. I can read horror stories about ASUS support, and "all" other manufacturers laugh4.gif

But then the Asus seems to be in your price range and would replace your current system nicely. I think that notebooks price is stabilizing at the moment, you won't find much discount, unless someone is going out of business.

cheers ...
