BIOS designer Phoenix Technologies has recently announced its latest UEFI-based BIOS technology, Phoenix SecureCore Technology 3.0, that supports multiple platforms and programming codes. The technology adopts EDK II development code, but is also backward compatible with EDK 1117, supporting both x86- and ARM-based systems.
Currently, Insyde Software is the largest vendor in the notebook BIOS industry, while American Megatrends is the largest in the desktop BIOS market. To challenge the two firms, Phoenix has been aggressively developing new products and technologies and has successfully earned a chance to cooperate with Intel to start catching up, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.
