Windows 7 failed to start. Patriot pyro se 120gb SSD

Ive been getting windows failed to start once a day and i would push start windows normally and itll start normally but there is something wrong for it to do that at all. I have a hp dv6-6b19wm and I replaced the HDD with a patriot ssd and had a company reinstall windows 7 since they gave me bad advice on cloning my old drive. Anyway I don't have a windows disk and for some reason my oldest restore point is nov. 23. Which won't help my problem. I haven't installed any new software or hardware. I've ran startup repair and it says it can't fix the problem automatically. I ran another test can't remember which one but it's the one that test everything and after it ran I looked at the details and scrolled all the way down and it never found any failure. I think that's why startup can't fix the problem cause it can't find anything wrong. I re seated the ram. Which is 16gb ddr3-1333. And took out CMOS battery and it did reset everything but didn't fix the problem. Could battery be bad? Well any suggestions please. Thanks

Sorry but I installed the ssd 8 months ago and the ram too so it's worked fine untill about a week ago so they aren't the problem.

I would try again with a clean installation. You can legally download the ISO of your OS version here and use your COA key for activation

http://www.mydigitallife.info/windows-7-rc-iso-official-microsoft-direct-download-links-32-bit-and-64-bit/

and SSD does go bad, somehow quicker than the normal drive

Thanks, I'll try it when I get off work. Also yea I understand ssd's do fail. The firmware is up to date. In your opinion would that be a symptom of ssd failing? Do they fail slowly or just go cOmpletely out one day without warning? The smart info has just over a TB written to it and I can't remember the power on count but it's no more than 200 since I've only had it for about 8-10 months and I don't turn it on every day. Thanks for your quick reply and your opinions. Have a great day and a holiday season.

It is not so easy to pin-point the error to the SSD, yet. But the description of starting and having to shut off the system in order to get it (somehow) restarted can only point to failing drive and / or ram, in general. I have seen many comps in our office having to re-install enough time on the SSDs for these intermittent errors, to suggest it.

Have a great holidays and good luck. Thanks for stopping by NBF. Let us know how it turns out

What happens is when I turn it on for the first time of the day for the last week I get a bsod for a second and the windows 7 failed to start message with options to start windows normally or launch startup repair. The first couple days I chose start windows normally and it would start normally. When it did it yesterday I chose launch startup repair which said it couldn't fix the problem so I looked at the details of the tests and of all the hardware it tested there wasn't any failures for it to fix. I also restored it to the earliest restore point but it was only nov 23 and that didn't fix it. Also I looked at the event viewer and it only reported a kernel error of windows not being shutdown properly and I assume it's recording windows failing to start and it thinks it wasn't shut down properly. Sorry this is so long but I didn't have much time to write all the details at first since I'm at work. Thanks for helping.

Go to the SSD manufacturer support site and see if there is any mentioning about priming the drive before OS installation. Some do, some don't winknudge.gif
