MINECRAFT + GT540M OPTIMUS + WINDOWS 8 = PROBLEM

Gonna try my luck here, its really frustrating. Home machine has no issues running windows 8 with my 7950 and playing Minecraft.

Hi guys ok the problem im having on my Acer laptop 4750G is nvidia optimus isn't switching to my GT540M whenever i play minecraft so i have to play minecraft with my intel HD built in graphics which kinda sucks, i've tried everything and am at wits ends.

Things I've tried doing:
- Update nvidia drivers
- Manually assign minecraft to optimus list
- Manually assign javaw.exe to optimus listg so
- Right clicking minecraft and assigning gt540m but doesn't work

My windows 8 pro is a fresh copy everythings been newly installed with all the latest drivers. No matter what I try optimus refuses to toggle on my GT540m either on javaw.exe or minecraft itself which i understand runs off of javaw.exe please help i'm getting so tired spending the whole night googling and trying my best to solve this.

System specs:
i7-2630qm 2ghz (Windows 8 pro x64)
8gb ram
gt540m (Optimus technology)
build in intel HD graphics

Ok i don't know if this would be wise to go through with as currently my Nvidia version is 306.97, the drivers on that page seems to be an older version. Would it be worth a try?

New driver / BIOS version does not always guarantee that it would work with one's environment. Create a restore point on your comp, and definitively giving the "old" driver version a go wink.gif

You want also to check out the Acer support page and see what they say about working with Windows 8 for your model
