Lenovo N 500 Boot major problems

Hi Screen was flickering a lot on a Lenovo 3000 N 500 so I opened  the cover to have a look, Im pretty sure its was an LCD cable problem because if you played around with it you could see it caused flickering on the screen,

So my problem now is it wont boot up but display lights up, the reason, I was moving around this cable with a small screwdriver (Laptop was on at this stage) and then the Laptop powered down, so next power up only display buttons light up power battery etc but no boot anymore,

Any suggestions appreciated, had a look at motherboard does anyone know where the system battery is in these Laptops

mellow.gif Yikes. I sure hope you did not short the board somewhere, poking around whilst the system was on.

I am not sure if this Lenovo model comes with a CMOS battery that you can access and replace. Try removing hard drive and ram modules and let it sit for a while, using only power adapter and see if you can restart it

No luck qhn, guess I must have damaged something while powered up as you suggested, removed HDD and ram changed with different ram, tried powering up again but no success. Not looking good is it

Looks like a job for those motherboard repair guys, can't see any used boards for this model any where, and worst of all its not my Laptop sad.gif

So true. I wonder if it would be better, and cheaper, if you buy a used 3000 N500 - then use it for spare parts even

I don't know qhn think these guys have max price of 70 euro incl delivery for board repairs, I also have a used Hp win 7 that I could give instead I think he is happy enough with that, I don't see any n 500's for sale on ebay but I'm sure there around somewhere
