Am in the market and looking for a gaming laptop. I plan on dual booting windows / linux. I have a day job as a web developer and would like to put on the occasional game every so. I've looked at a few laptops, such as Alienware, Eurocom, Sager and Origin.
Origin and Sager have caught my attention lately. My primary configuration looks like:
- GPU Nvidia GTX 680M
- Memory 16gb
- Storage ~250 SSD
- Matte Display
- Intel Core i7 3740QM Quad-Core 2.70GHz (3.70GHz TurboBoost), 6MB Cache
I am also contemplating on whether to get a 15 or 17 inch. I own a Macbook Pro 17 inch. I am swaying towards a 15 inch for portability and battery life. Will the 15 inch have more battery life that the 17? If so, by how much more?
Sager and Origin 15 and 17 inch laptops use a Clevo P150EM (15 inch), P170EM ()17 inch and P170EM1 (17 inch). Anything I should take into account first, before purchasing any laptops that use these bodies?
I just missed the Cyber Monday promotion for the Origin laptops. I am hoping they will have a sort of Christmas promotion soon.
These are the laptops I am considering. If you own either, any feedback would be appreciated.

With a packed configuration as mentioned, there will be no difference in battery performance advantage between the 15" and the 17".
Portability - both are just heavy in my book ;p
Screen preference - gaming can be good with 15" notebook, but developers would need a larger screen
Clevo based notebooks are solid. Tough call for you
cheers ...
