The new Samsung Series 7 Chronos 17.3"

Thread Starter

Recently, I got the new samsung chronos (700Z7C) and since I'm not really good with computers, I came here looking for some answers. Anyways, since this laptop supports Optimus, it obviously configures between 2 GPUs (switchable) depending on the demand on graphics for certain tasks. The 2 GPUs being Intel HD Graphics 4000 (integrated) and Nvidia Geforce 650m (external).

So what I want to know is how exactly can I manually switch between the 2 graphics, or for example how do I use the Nvidia GPU in addition or instead of the Intel Graphics? And if the Nvidia were to be in usage, how would I know?

I'm concerned because I want to use the Nvidia for gaming and watching movies obviously and possibly for demanding programs such as photoshop.

Also, on the topic of movies, I have this issue of getting reduced quality when watching a movie fullscreen (doesn't apply for web videos). Ok, I have to admit, these are torrents were talking about here. But thats not the main source of the problem since the exact same movies look perfectly fine when watching fullscreen on a mac.

The quality of the movie goes from around 720p in original size in comparison to around 360/420p in fullscreen, is there anyway I can fix this? I tried converting certain movie files to HD 1080p (1920x1080) and still no change.

I would much appreciate help.

Thank you in advance :).

The nvidia control panel - via 3D Settings - should give you the ability to go to manage manually which card is to be used for which program; if I am not mistaken.

As far as video quality, have you tried with different media players? codecs?

cheers ...
