Ok frist of all, I never really gave credit to 3dmarks.And I know theres a big diffence in laptop and desktop. But after running 3 test an getting 5000 on my desktop and only getting 1200 an my laptop,Im thinking wow whats up?
all settings r the same but my desktop has a ati 9700 pro and my laptop has a ati 9600. Is there that much of a diffence between the 9700pro and the 9600?

Is this normal?

Thanks I maybe out of town befor I can get back to yall.

MAn check out the good looking pete too.

I assume you are using 3Dmark03. Are you overclocking the video card on the 51m? If so, you may have gone too far. At the default setting, your score should be around 2600 on the laptop. Make sure you are running it on AC power. Disable Powerplay if necessary, it drops the clock speeds on battery power. To answer your question...yes, there is that much difference between mobile and desktop gpu's. your score looks about right for the 9700 pro, but you laptop score is very low...leading to my guess that it is OC'd too far or on battery power. Just a note...the clock frequencies probably wont be equal between the 2 cards, the 9700pro has better cooling and more power at its disposal.

Like I said, the score should be around 2600 at default, make sure you dont have any extra programs/processes running in the background.

Also, you said you only ran 3 tests? Run the whole battery of tests that are available in the default setting of 3dmark03, at a resolution of 1024x768...blah blah blah, all the defaults..

Check if you have the antialaising and the anisotropic too high.
On my area1m I got a score of 3,076 in 3DMark03, (without overclock anything) and without antialaising configuration.
