toshiba L300 Ram problems PSLB1A-02C01E

Hi I've got a toshiba L300 satellite pro PSLB1A-02C01E notebook, and have been having major ram problems with it.  First off I had 3gb of ram running smoothly for about a year and just recently decided to upgrade to 4gb.  It definitely takes 4gb, but whenever I tried installing another piece of 2gb ram I just got the blue screen.  I even tried two pieces of identical ram and the same thing happened.  And the weird thing is then when I tried to put the 1gb back in so it would be running 3gb again, I got the blue screen!  So now I'm running on only 2gb.  All the ram works by itself so it's not a bad ram problem, and I've updated the bios so it's not that.  Any help would be appreciated.  Cheers.

Is the 2GB module that you use now the old one, or one of the newer one that you bought?

I'm using the old one at the moment, but the newer one also works.  I actually ended up buying about 3 different rams in an attempt to solve the problem.  They all work on their own, but now I can't add any more ram or I get the blue screen. cheers.

Can you share the part numbers of the current ram modules that you are using?

sorry not really sure what you mean by part numbers.  I am using a hynix 2Gb 2Rx8 PC2-5300S -555-12 and then it also has written on it HYMP125S64CP8-Y5 AB-C 0801A.  There is also some writing on the little black boxes on the ram but I can hardly make out what it says.  cheers.

Stock calls for DDR2-800 (PC2-6400). I recommend you stick with this specification. The "S" part on the module normally means for "Server" - I'd stay away from it.

For any memory related queries, Crucial.com is an excellent place to go.. has an automatic scan or one where you find your make/model and tells you exactly how much memory your computer can handle and what size..good ref tool
