Acer Aspire charging issues

Hello,

I've been trying to google this in all sorts of variations but have come up with nothing quite like what's happening. It's quite simple, my laptop randomly stops and starts charging at what seems like random intervals. At times it's on/off every few seconds for a bit, then it runs empty and wont charge for half a day, then its fine one day, and on another day doesnt charge for an hour and so on.

The laptop: ASPIRE V3-571G (bought around 3-4 months ago)

My first suspicion was the charger, mainly the socket/charger tip relationship, as those often get loose and dodgy. Doesn't seem to be the case, I've tried out if it makes a difference when I nudge it gently in different directions. Hasn't made a difference even once, not even when it's in the (quite rare) back and forth with small intervals stage.

I've also tried different wall plugs. have tried disconnecting everything, taking the battery out etc. It just doesn't seem to be affected by anything at all, does what it wants when it wants. I've noticed no patterns and nothing that helps (or makes it worse). Sometimes it just stops charging 4pm one day and works again the morning of the next day as if nothings happened.

This has been going on about 2 weeks or so.

I went to ask someone at PCWorld and they just gave me some brochure and told me to send it to diagnostics. Makes the most sense ofcourse, but the whole reason I'm trying to find out if anyone has any clue or possibly similar experiences is because I want to avoid losing my laptop for probably like a month or something.

Thanks

do you happen to know if the battery is being configured to take charge only after a certain threshold %? Have you tried with another battery?

cheers ...

Not that I know of, no. There doesn't seem to be any patterns at all.

I recommend giving it a try with another battery. Is this comp still under warranty?

cheers ...
