and PC monitors yet. I thought we would have oled monitors and laptop displays by now. Oleds have made it into cell phones but skipped all the in between devices such as laptops etc. and onto big huge TV screens. It doesn't make any sense. One would think that they would slow make their way up the size latter.

Can anyone shed any light on the matter?

One word .... COST!

Samsung, Dell and Lenovo talked about OLED Notebooks way back in 2010; simply saying there is no real demand for OLED notebooks from consumers stand point

If they are prohibitively expensive then why the extra large uber expensive tv's?

It's easy to sell an expensive television than to sell an expensive notebook nowadays winknudge.gif

Furthermore I read somewhere that OLED in notebooks would kill the battery in certain situation, adding more cost to the units (bigger battery per example)

really? i've always read that OLED displays were more power efficient than lcds or even led lcds.

"in certain situations"

Power consumption
While an OLED will consume around 40% of the power of an LCD displaying an image which is primarily black, for the majority of images it will consume 60–80% of the power of an LCD: however it can use over three times as much power to display an image with a white background such as a document or website. This can lead to reduced real-world battery life in mobile devices when white backgrounds are used.
