To unlock a Dell bios or to not.

Hi All, just purchased a perfect Dell Precison M6300 Laptop for a give away price. The Laptop is 100% locked

My delimar is the laptop is completely locked, This leaves me with so many options I am looking for a possible reasonable cost to fix.

A) I can do a warranty transfer attempt, if that works what will Dell Charge to un lock the laptop?

B) Can I purchase an extended warranty from Dell and have the laptop unlocked

C) I can purchase a working used board from the online network. Or even purchase an entire new base, motherboard and palm rest for $125. US

Any and all suggestions are welcome.Wink

Not quite sure I understand what is 100% locked means in your case.

. can't start?
. can't get into BIOS?

Thanks for the effort, I have the password generator and have been assured I have the correct password from all of the codes..... When starting the laptop, no matter the manner that is used, the large Grey screen looking for the password. The password has been entered in all available formats.

This M6300 is really in perfect condition and with the cost of $60.00 by Dell for the support if given at all, I might as well simply pay the same cost for a used board that has no passwords attached.

I collect parts when I can find them at a very good price and pass the savings along to my local church members, I am retired and this gives me something to do. I like this style and the design of this style of Dell laptop, these cases as they are very strong and well ventilated and has tons of parts available. This particular unit is cosmetically brand new, apparently having very Little use......

Got ya. Well cheaper used boards are porbably the way to go, unless you can get Dell to help you out in certain way tongue.gif

Well Dell I believe is a big waste of time. I want this project complete by next Monday, I have too many others pending.laptop projects. I am building a M6500 for myself with a new motherboard and a m4400 donor for parts.I like the 32MB max, although I am only using 16. A new SSD and a 500GB HD.....

My new toy...
