MSI GT60 0ne w/ GTX 680m - mobile gaming notebook - mobile gaming help needed

Thread Starter

I just got the GT60 0ne w/ GTX 680m and I am really in awe of it.  I have had only mid entry level notebooks int the past and they haven't been anything great.  This one has good build quality, feels nice and solid during use, and is suited nice for gaming.  The Steelseries keyboard built into it feels great, much more of a solid feel when typing and gaming.  Not to mention that the customization ability of the led back-lights give it a nice fun feel.  The audio is actually good, as I am usually a headphone person I am finding myself gaming with Spotify cranked up through the onboard speakers.  The screen is 1920x1080 and @ 15" it is very sharp and looks great, even when text is small it is crisp and clean.  I Have enjoyed my time gaming with it over the weekend.  I played WoW for a few hours and loved that I could tune the settings to look great with good framerates.  I love the screen for gaming, though I found that I had to increase text size in WoW to actually read it easily as it was nice and readable but insanely small lol.  I will be trying more games over the coming days and will be running a few benchmarks to see how it fares.  Does anyone else have one - or used one?  Interested in what you think and if there are recommendations for gaming on laptops?  Like good packable headsets,  good small gaming mice, and the like.

I will :D - I am trying to get some benchmarks ran here in the next few days, and will try to take some pics.  I also need to take some video if I can of the keyboard led lighting features.  Any tests you want to see?

I love the notebook :) - I am happy it can be my mobile entertainment platform... Games and movies played on friend's and family's TVs via HMDI and gaming in small spaces when doing things at places away from home. running benchmarks as I go and retaking the pics I took as my white balance was wayyyy offf

Thanks - I am running some benchmarks but I am hating win8 as I can't do a selective startup (diagnostic)  to run them without fluff  running in the background

Maybe you can share with us as how Win8 really runs with games on this machine. Still not quite getting use to the big squares myself with mouse and keyboard laugh4.gif

I think that Win 8 sucks for notebooks and is only useful for tablets...  It should have never been a dual purpose OS, I am downgrading to 7 soon, though that is because of personal preferences I have.  I think that win8 runs the games I have very well but there again it is not where I want it for a PC "type" of use.  I hope I am not the only one here that hates it this much lol.  I actually think I will love the notebook even more with win7, if it is possible lol.

Have fun with the OS downgrading. Hopefully drivers won't be an issue

GPU seems to overclock quite well, especially the memory +37% is quite much.
