Toshiba L355D-S7901

I have a Toshiba L355D-S7901 which was working perfectly then the screen went black. When the power button is pushed you can see the fan spinning and hear the hard drive start spinning but that is all. The screen stays black, can not even get to the bios. I have pulled the hard drive and connected it to another computer vis usb and I can access the hard drive perfectly. I also looked at the screen with a flashlight but I did not see anything there. Tried each ram card individually as well. No luck. Is there a common design flaw with these machines I can look for? I have rebuilt many laptops before so opening it up and disassembling it is not a problem. Just want to have the replacement parts on hand. Thank you for the help.

Try it with an external monitor...if no pic then probably a GPU problem if there is a pic on the external then it could be a screen problem with the laptop or possibly a converter (these are cheap to replace) I assume there hasnt been any droppage or spillage..have you had it apart before the problem arose..improper connection

I have the same thing going on, started Monday - was working Sunday, shut it down, black screen on Monday. Only a power light, no num lock light..

External display = nothing

Removing Battery, power, and holding the power button in an attempt to clear CMOS = nothing.

Removing RAM = nothing[not a sound]

Edit 2/22/2013: I removed and baked the motherboard, I have a normal boot process and display again. For now it'll work..

This is way too funny. Just baked mine at 375 for 7 minutes and the laptop works perfect.
