Narrowed down to three choices. Help me make a decision

Hi all!
I'm looking to buy a new laptop. This is mostly for my college work and entertainment. For college I'll be running couple of simulation and CAD software(COSILAB, ANSYS, SolidWorks, CATIA V5). Entertainment mostly includes movies, music and some browsing online. My budget is a little tight as I can't spend more than $500. Based on this I've narrowed down to three choices -

1. Lenovo G580 (i3, 4GB, 500 GB, Intel HD4000) for $399.99 in Newegg.
2. ASUS A55A-TH51 (i5, 6GB, 500 GB, Intel HD4000) for $479.99 in TigerDirect.
3. Samsung NP350V5C-A01US ((i5, 4GB, 500 GB, Intel HD4000) for $499.99 in TigerDirect.

Since my budget is constrained, I know that simulation and CAD software may take a strain because of Core i3/i5 (I was suggested Core i7 for them to run smoothly) but I am willing to accept that. My biggest confusion lies in going for either the i3 or i5. Apart from Turbo Boost, I couldn't find any significant differences between them. So can I go for the i3 itself ?

Finally, from the models I've listed, which one do you suggest ? Anyone got any negatives against them ? Is there any laptop that is riddled with issues and I should keep afar ? Is there any other laptop you guys think is a better fit for my needs ?

Please suggest. Any advice is highly appreciated

Taking in consideration the HD4000 integrated GPU, I personally would go for at least with the i5. This would push the Lenovo price to be in par with the Asus and Samsung models listed in your post. Then take the Lenovo for the very simple reason of software and drivers support:)

Thanks for replying!

I found out that the Lenovo with an i5 is sold out in Newegg. It was $449.99, the cheapest among them. Other websites have it listed for well over $500 :(

Ask if you can get a rain check or some sort. Might want also to check out Lenovo Sales direct, you might be surprised what deals they have in store there.
