Toshiba so SLOW?

Hello,

 

I'm new to this forum and I have a question.  Why is my laptop so slow? It is a Toshiba Satellite A665-S6098. It has a NVidia GeForce 330m(1gb dedicated), i7 Q740 clocked at 1.73 GHZ.

I have Windows 8 installed on it and its a fresh install.     I notice while playing games like MechWarrior online. My friends 13.3 inch MacBook pro with a 2.5 ghz i5, and intel hd graphics (512mb dedicated) WAY out preforms mine... 

 

Can anyone help? I preform regular "Ccleaners" and other cache clearings.. I don't know what im doing wrong.

Only with Win8? Slow in general or just under certain circumstances?
