USB problems in Windows 7

Can anybody help me with a problem that I'm having when trying to use USB ports on my Samsung R540.

Basically, every time I try to plug in a USB device to use with my laptop, I keep getting a message saying that the device driver is not installed and I've tried everything that I can think of to fix the problem without success including deleting the relevant listings in device manager and then rebooting the laptop.

Only with ONE USB device, or with "all" USB devices?

The problem seems to be happening with ALL USB devices such as external hard drives, my 4th Generation iPod Touch and my new ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity.

How about removing the whole USB support module from within devices manager, reboot Windows and see if it can be repaired from there. This does not work, try a clean re-installation, unless you happen to have a restore point where/when everything worked before

Can also try running a system scan, or using Microsoft Fixit module

cheers ...
