It should work, I recommend baking your video card first before replacing the motherboard

Yes the E1705 will bolt in...

What is wrong with your XPS 1710, If the laptop will not boot, the main problem is that the video card is bad.... Baking the card may work for a bit... try it for the price you are looking at spending, I would rather purchase a used dell Precision M6300, you may be able to get an entire computer there and your parts will also fit directly in. The motherboard is faster and will hold more memory. Just no silly lights...

15-20 min at 375F ... don't touch it until everything is cooled down ... 4 times might be a charm winknudge.gif

You may want to consider looking into the Intel i945pm motherboard off eBay. It will fit into any m1710 and an E1705. It supports a wide range of processors from 32bit to the way to the lovely T7600 64bit 2.33 CPU.

This MOBO does not have integrated video. I do not prefer an integrated video card; So, I would recommend this motherboard.

I hope this information helps you.

Here is the full description of the board. Including a list of the compatible CPU's.

BTW, I have an ATI x1400 Video card that I am not using, It is supported in your motherboard as long as you do not have an integrated video card. I can sell or trade you for something if your interested.

Take Care.
