HP Envy Ultra Book 6t-1200 Graphics Hell!

Our company recently purchased the HP Ultra book, model 6t-1200. It has the Intel HD graphics and a AMD HD8750M discrete card. The laptop came with Windows 8 installed, but we had to install windows 7 on it because some of the encryption software we use will not work with Windows 8. The problem we are having is that the HD8750M is showing as a "standard VGA graphics adapter" in control panel, and an accompanying exclamation point complaining of a code 10.

The HP support site only has Windows 8 drivers available to download for this laptop, so I went ahead and tried the AMD graphics driver listed on their site. The problem still persists. The Intel HD 4000 graphics are working fine but I cant get the code 10 to go away or get the AMD catalyst drivers to work. The drivers keep complaining of no support products.

The laptop uses the Intel HM77 chipset and the correct chipset drivers and MEI drivers are installed.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Try using Windows 7 drivers and installing them in compatible mode. Good luck

I've tried every driver the AMD site has to offer, It goes through the process but only installs SDK and the catalyst install manager. The drivers part never installs. It's really pissing me off.....LOL

I'll give those a try but I don't hold out much hope. That driver is a year and a half old, and the likelihood of it recognizing a graphics adapter that was just recently introduced to the market is slim. Who knows though, I'll give it a shot and report back later today.

Thanks for the help qhn!

Awesome, thanks. I've been buried at work the last couple of days, I hope to try those drivers later today. I also downloaded the AMD 13.2 Beta drivers as well, so maybe between the two one of them will work. I'll let you know ASAP.
Thanks again!

I am not so sure about using direct AMD drivers on HP machines. They always give me heartburn laugh4.gif

Best thing is to look for compatible drivers from other notebook manufacturers

Ok, we have tried numerous drivers from numerous manufacturers, including everything suggested here. We've spent way too much time on this, so tomorrow we are going to restore it back to it's original condition and send the darn thing back. AMD and HP support were both about as worthless as worthless can be.

Anyway, thanks for the attempts at helping, but best we can tell at this point there are no windows 7 drivers that will recognize the HD 8750M graphics card.

Thanks!

Windows is getting worse with new machines. And manufacturers as well
