dell studio battiery

Hi,

I am using my laptop with out battery since couple of years. Now i want to buy a battery for it.
I called Dell online, they said
4500 - 6 cell
5550 - 9 cell.

and i am not sure if i buy a new one, it works for me or not. Because, I do not know whether my lappy charges new battery. How can we know if we buy new one it works.

please suggest me, which one(6 cell or 9 cell) is best to buy.

And what is exactly your Dell model? What does the current power adapter says (input and output)? What does it say on your "old" battery? Why did you decide to run on non-battery?

I am running my Lappy with out battery since 2 years. I will not use much time so running on ac power. Now a days I am travelling frequently so looking for battery. Lappy model is Dell Studio 1535 and adapter is 90w. Presently laptop shows plugged in not charging. Please suggest me which battery is better and will it works?

If Dell offers the 9-cells, then get it. It would give more time on battery. Your power adapter will support either batteries
