I've not posted here before, but would love to hear some opinions on my inability to make a choice :)
I've looking at upgrading my old Dell Studio 1555 laptop with something quite powerful but a lot more portable. I got the Studio 1555 with a few extras, 4GB of ram, the dedicated Radeon HD 4500 512MB and the 1920x1080 led display which has been quite nice and it's performed like a champ.
I do a lot of web design & development (Fireworks, Photoshop, running local web servers etc.), play the odd game (nothing too taxing, EVE, Diablo III that sort of thing), bit of photo retouching.
I was going to go with the Lenovo Yogo 13, but seeing all the problems in the forums has kind of put me off buying anything from Lenovo. I would have liked a touch screen ultrabook but don't mind living without.
I really like the design and build of the Dell XPS range, so I've narrowed it down to a couple of options.
XPS 13 - £1,079
Core i7-3537U, 13" Full HD 1920x1080, 8GB DDR3, 256GB SSD, Intel HD 4000, 1.36kg
XPS 14 - £839
Core i5-3317U, 14" HD+ 1600x900, 8GB DDR3, 512GB SSD, 1GB GeForce 630M, 2.1kg
Now they both have their own good points, XPS 13 has the i7, full HD and only weights 1.36kg, The XPS 14 on the other hand has the bigger screen, more ports, larger hard drive and dedicated graphics, but lower resolution and weights more.
The XPS 14 is on sale at the moment, unfortunately the i7 version is a bit out of my price range at £1,459.
So I'd really appreciate any thoughts/suggestions anyone has.
