I will begin by stating that I have own a Dell Inspiron E1705 since sometime in 2006. It is still around and kicks ass till this day.
I recently have upgraded some components and have further intentions to go far beyond what is written online regarding the E1705 modifications.
I have written my current system specs and what I and deciding on doing.
I would like your optimistic opinions and suggestions.
I do understand that the ideas may be pricey given the value of the e1705 vs the cost of the parts; but keep in mind, this is purely for fun!
CPU: Intel T2250 1.77 ghz, 32bit
GPU: ATI Radeon x1400 Hyper-Extended Memory (Dedicated memory 128mb / shared memory 128mb) hyper-extended my ass!
MOBO: Intel i945pm
RAM: 2x 1gb 533 mhz ddr2
WIFI: Intel WLAN NC293 wireless modes a/b/g
CDROM: DVD-RW Dual Layer
HDD: SATA Seagate 500gb 5400 rpm
Power Supply: 60 watt
CPU: Intel T7600 2.33 ghz, 64bit
GPU: Nvidia Geforce Go 7950 GTX (512 mb Dedicated memory)
RAM: 2x 2gb pc2-5300 667mhz
HDD: Western Digital Black Scorpio 250gb 7200 rpm
Power Supply: 130 watt
What Crazy Config I have in mind. OOOHHH HOOOOO HHAHAAAAHHAHAHEHEHEHEHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!
CPU: Intel T7600 2.33 ghz, 64bit (SAME THIS IS MAXED OUT- UNLESS YOU KNOW SOMETHING I DO NOT?)
GPU: I was looking a an Nvidia Quadro FX 3800m - I have heard absolutely nothing about this being compatible yet it was not available when this laptop was sold. I have no idea if this would work but i seriously would like to know if it could. However it uses and xfx for and has a similar frame to the 7950 gtx.
It looks like i would have to extend the video cable to get this working but I hope it works. Its unreal I know.
I believe that I can swap the 7950 gtx frame with this card and plug it in and ROCK ON!!!
If this is possible I know for sure I will have to do some addition ventilation modding...
MOBO: Same (Nothing to change here.)
RAM: I know that the hardware and the bios are configured to only allow you to utilize 3.25 gb or something in that nature. However regarding technology there are those that manage to hack and mod and alter those rules. In the even some genius manages to unlock this setting I would immediately purchase 2x 4gb pc2-5300 Ram sticks which exist on eBay. That would bump me up to 8gb if possible?!!
WIFI: DELL NJ449 802.11n A/B/G/N 802.11 N
USB: If there is any freekin way I would like to swap them for USB 3.0 However I believe the only I can make this possible is through utilizing the PCMIA addon.
CDROM: Bluray (I guess) or a CD-Rom HDD Bay to add in an additional hard drive but that is iffy because that may generate more unwanted heat!
HDD: SOLID STATE BABY! Some Crucial Fast SSD. SSD's are known to operate 10x faster that hdd's, they also have a longer life ratio, and they generate little to no heat. The basic rule is that you can only go as fast as your slowest componet. Therefore if my hdd is the turtle then the rest of my hardware will have to babysit and travel slowely with it. Normally the turtle beats the hare in a race but in this case it does not. However if I pop in an SSD then the story begins to change.
Power Supply: 130 watt SAME Unless I have to upgrade to get a stronger GPU Cranking.
Oh Yeah, I would also like to swap the POWER CONSUMING WUXGA LCD screen with an LED of the same fit but I have no Idea where to begin with that one. (HELP)

Below is the Ram I would love to install if someone could manage to crack the bios and rigg the mobo. Yes I know its pointless and we will never use that much ram in and old Inspiron yada yada so what!
Below is the Wireless N adaptor that will work perfectly. Its is much faster than what is currently installed.
To all that love to mod and see the outcome please join me on this modding journey. Post you opinions and your suggestions. If you have these components available please submit for testing or post your reviews and comparisons, etc....
All that care to become a part of this can do so by donating. Please feel free to do so, all is appreciated. ;)
You can donate by using this link.
Donation's will be used to purchase components required for this project.
I will post more pictures as as the mod continues and of course some cooling ventilation's if we can pull this off.
Thanks for Reading
