Two Days To Late

Well I found this forum just "Not" in the nick of time. I decided after about a good week or two of looking around to get me a Dell 9100. I of course like others went for the second screen as it seemed like a better choice for rez and all. My tracking number shows that I should have it on Monday and after reading all the bad reviews about the screens I decided to check my specs on Dell's website. Sure nuff I have waiting for me down at the UPS station a brand new $2300 laptop with a Hitachi screen. You cant imagine the strange feelings going on in my head right now. One part of me has been waiting all week for this thing to show up, and the other part is scared to see how bad the screen is really going to be. So to wrap things up I ask two questions:

1. Are ALL Hitachi WSXGA Screens Crap?

2. If I decide to return it can I just get my money back or credit or whatever. I dont even want to mess with trying to get the right screen installed all of this based on everyones problems.

Thanks for the read.....

If in the US you have 21 days to return it from the day it was shipped to get a full refund.

I returned mine for money, ordered a new 9100 with a different type of screen (WUXGA, not WSXGA).

so yes you can return it for cash/credit

All hitachi WSXGA screens of the A00 rev are sucky, the samsung WSXGA screen is fine

apparently there's a new A01 or A02 rev of the hitachi out that doesn't bite

Got my Dell today. Well it looks like I got lucky and have a new Hitachi screen. Either that or im not picky at all. I do see some light leakage when I play a DVD but thats almost considered normal. I have already played Unreal 2004 and Battlefield Vietnam without a hitch. Thanks for all the help and replies.

PS- I am a laptop tech so maybe my eyes are just going bad. But I'm very happy with my 9100!!!

I also got one of the newer Hitachi WSXGA+ screens so it likes they may have straightened out the issue.
