My Dell C600 w/ Windows 2000 (Svc Pk 4) came with a netopia 3D Reach (TER/WPC11E2) card and Wireless Adapter Utility, which has usually worked very well at the free-wifi places like Panera's and Starbucks.
Now I have Cox Cable internet & router at home and want to use the Dell off the router. When I open Wireless Adapter Utility and select the router's profile from Site Survey, it appears to connect-- like, constant 100% signal bar (which doesn't seem right) --but the browser will not open a web page. Is this a WPA issue? What I've found on this old PC card suggests that it can handle WPA as well as the WEP encryption like my old Linksys router used. Is that true, or is my setup too old to handle today's security features?
I want to make the 3D Reach work, but if not, is there a reliable, simple, simple, cheap card I can use instead?
2Wire 802.11g WiFi PC Card Wireless Adapter
Cisco-Linksys WPC54G Wireless-G Notebook Adapter
For example, found these two at Amazon. Don't know if they will really work on my system.
