I'm getting a new laptop shortly, which comes with a 2.5" internal 2 TB drive. I will be replacing that drive with a Seagate Momentus XT 750GB hybrid drive, and want to place the original drive in an external enclosure for backup/storage. I use the same type drive inside my desktop PC with Windows 7 64, large difference in startup and general performance, super quiet.
In shopping around for a case, I'm seeing some list a limit of, say, 1.5 TB. Is this a software barrier with ext. enclosures? If so, can I partition the drive to 2 - 1TB partitions, so the interface sees them as less than 1.5TB (if this is actually necessary?).
