Gateway MX6440 Original operating System for Original Product Key
Long story short.....
I contacted MS and spoke with 3 different tech's. The third one was VERY helpful and did everything he could to help me activate my software. He was VERY patient when it took me 4 times to finally get my laptop to boot up. (this was the first that I had seen that! Go figure). Anyway he wasn't able to activate it since the hard drive had been reformatted so he told me to let it sit a day or two then try entering the key again. If that doesn't work, all the can do is offer me thier premium support plan for $95 dollars to get me going.(for an OS that support will stop next April? Right!)
So I am going to call them back today and see if we can resolve this issue.

No I don't think they transferred it did,
I'm calling MS in the morning hoping that all goes well.

I'm still working on getting my sound to work. Installed the patch but still got a "Failure" status. I think when I first installed the driver way back when, I ended up using a different driver than what Gateway offered and it worked. I just can't remember which one I used....dratts!
A lot of other people had the same problem with this particular driver too!
