Awesome pics, just what I wanted to see after ordering the Hypersonic Aviator CX5 (aka, CL56) ten minutes ago. It's gonna be a long wait, but boy, it'll be worth it! She's a beaut.

Great pics! I'm gonna order one over the weekend!! I like that Matrix screensaver, too.

EDIT - Why wait? I just ordered it!!!!

jswriter, which reseller did you go through? Been doing sooo much research and i have it narrowed down to this and the 5690. Trying to find a reseller of the CL56 with a return policy anywhere near that of PCTORQUE.

wait, where did you find a reseller of Compal stuff? Is is cheaper to buy a Compal directly, as opposed to buying a Chembook or Sager?

From this pic (w/o flash), does this show that the lcd tends to be brighter from the bottom than from the top of the screen? Or was it the lighting conditions of the picture that exaggerated the brightness near the bottom?
to be fair all laptop lcd's have that type of problem with vertical viewing angles, some to a lesser degree than others

cl56 seems to suffer from it a bit more than others (judging from pictures ive seen from multiple people)

thats not how it looks in real life

its more accurate with a flash

in real life blacks do not look "blue"

this is waht it looks like and if you look carefully u can notice the bottom is slightly lighter than the middle/upper part... thats as close as i can represent it using my camera...

its only noticable when your looking at single color backgrounds (ie black)

if you have windows up and or playing a game or just doing normal stuff on a wallpapered desktop its not noticable

also note how the black isnt as black as my CRT... thats how it is in real life... but also notice on the bottom pic that its more colorful than my CRT, thats how it is in real life too

do you notice the color thing here? i cant
its only noticable in single color backgrounds like i said

kavextrax:

Thanks for the links! But I would really prefer to get just the shell and by the parts separatly. Also I think this particuliar laptop case is "ugly". I don't like the the white border design around the keyboard. I want something painted jet-black.
The "white border that you don't like would look quite a bit different in reality as it is really brushed aluminum. It is really a quite attractive notebook, but I was initially put off by the design because of the pictures I saw on the net. For a good set of higher-res pics try http://www.powernotebooks.com/images/M5-6/

Screen look very nice, Rince. Definitely makes your CRT take a back seat!
