it took 4 days for my delivery

rincewind, it would be so awesome if u could take pics of the system when it is running at different vertical viewing angles. i mean viewing angles which are realistic compared to a 45 degree angle which obviously no one would work at

Could you post some pics of the removing the lcd screen casing? and possibly the bottom casing. i wanna see what it would look like.

RinceWind,

I don't know if you are still monitoring this thread, but I have a few questions. Your review and pictures have pretty much convinced me to choose the CL56 over the ECS G556e. (However, I do like the silver) I found the CL56 at MWAVE.com where you can get a Dothan 1.7, 40GB 5400RPM, 512MB, ATI M11, Intel 2200BG, and CDRW/DVD Combo for $1425 shipped.

1. What is the story behind your avatar?

2. Does your CL56 have external volume control buttons? What about external wireless button?

3. Would you get another one? If not, what would you get?

Thanks a lot.

The CL56 has the Function button which you hold down and press Page Up or Down for volume control.

If I did not have a laptop now and based on my prequsites/needs in a laptop... I'd either buy the aopen1557g or compalcl56 again

they are the only 2 notebooks that

are p-m
4.5-5 hour mobile time
9700 128mb
proper keyboard layout (ctrl key in correct spot)
does not heat up in odd places (keyboard/palmrest/keyrest)

rincewind: got my shinza sleeve and that targus bag... nice... But does your shinza kinda have to squeeze in a bit to get in the targus? I mean just a bit lips up, the lappy wont be like sliding around in it right? Thanks,

Chris

On the picture of the bottom of the cl56 (http://www.exocorpstudios.com/laptop...top_bottom.jpg) whats the circle thing for? It looks like an unused fan opening?
what, did you wash it to shrink it or something? or does it shrink over time?

Chris
that circle is not sealed on my laptop.
mine has a mesh filter and it intakes air when the fan actually needs to spin. The mesh is fine enough to block out most dust.

Where would someone buy a CL56 or a compal notebook for that matter?
That case is the same as my Acer Travelmate 292LMCI ?!? Only mine isn't a CL56
