hmm lets see, its slightly larger in dimensions than my apple ipod

but smaller than my hand

Oh, wow. I guess that when I looked at one of the pictures of the underneath of the notebook, I didnt really see the size of the battery. It is actualy a lot more smaller than I thought it was.

Does the warm air blowing at your mouse hand bother you at all?
It seems more rational to have the air vents primarily on the left or the back of the notebook, similar to most other notebooks. Maybe the designer was a lefty.
But remember that one install of Windows (XP) probably doesn't work on a machine with different chipset or anything else crusial changed, like type of processor, north-bridge chipset. Ghost-images are only usable on the same types of machine/set-up!

And the dude with the iPod, what is that loop on the iPod?
Was it like that from Apple, or is it custom made by you? :P

my ipod is wrapped in a lajo exo3 skin

its basically like a glove, with openings for the input/output/buttons/ports
it also holds my PDA screen protector in place so the whole thing is scratch proof

the lil loop is part of the skin for a strap which i never use

rincewind, how do you get into the bios on your cl56... i cant seem to figure it out...

well i think its f2 or something when u power up...

a centrino mobiletechnology screen should be the first thing you see and it says underneath in captions (hit f2 or whatever to setup) that will take u to bios...

just a heads up the bios in all laptops are fairly limited interms of what u can configure... u cant for example tweak fsb or multipliers or anything like that... its really basic stuff
post #32 of 83
You can turn off the centrino splash screen if you want in the bios.
I think it even says "press f2 to enter setup" on that splash page too

yea i didnt expect nor want anything major... my main goal was to set the HD as first boot device... and see if I could change agp aperature... and I dont have the splash screen you speak of ... weird

So what downsides, if any, do you think the cl56 has? Seems to be a pretty damn near perfect laptop.
just the SXGA viewing angle thing which shouldn't be an issue and the fact that if you want to return it or exchange it you will be out some shipping money. And if you want 64 bit support it doesn't have that either, but the importance of that is debatable.

it only has 3 usb ports

and umm... no numberpad

the laptop casing cover is very glassy and leaves annoyin finger prints

has 10/100 ethernet ... no 1000 gigabit ethernet
post #39 of 83
So are you happy with this, or would you have rather gotten a 1557? Sorry about all the questions, and thx for all the answers!
