ASIO driver for generic audio cards

For those of us musically oriented who don't want to shell out big bucks for an expensive PCMCIA audio card, someone is working on making generic ASIO drivers which are supposed to work with any WDM audio card. It's still in beta though...

I am really looking forward to seeing this take off.

Too bad it doesn't seem to be an open-source project. I would love to contribute!

Yeah, it would be really nice if it ended up working. In the meantime, I ordered an Echo Indigo, which is supposed to do everything I'm looking for at the moment. I'll report here as soon as I can test it and see how it goes along with SX and more specifically VSTi.

Hopefully your Indigo works. I've heard more than a few reports of people loosing their Indigo's to heat issues. Let us know how it works for you!

I think all PCMCIA cards get hot. I had a SCSI adapter that got really warm, my wife's 802.11g NIC gets hot...

Must be something in the design of them.
