My 5 months old Toshiba Satellite (bought for ~$380) started having lines on left part of the screen (about 10 inch x 4 inch). I cannot see the full screen. Called the Toshiba customer service as the laptop is still under warranty. The service personal asked me to power down and try few things. Since the problem was resolved, he finally logged a ticket and gave me a tracking ID and asked me to ship the laptop. I asked if there is a local service center where I could take it. He said for this model, it has to be shipped to their center which will cost around $25 shipping fee.
I got the tracking info and the email describing what I need to do. I was hoping to find a box and ship the laptop. But going to the link that they sent, I found they totally recommend using their shipping box, and if for any reason they find that the laptop was mishandled or not shipped properly, they would not cover the warranty.
Before doling out $25 for shipping, still without any guarantee that my laptop will be properly repaired without having to pay anything more, I look up on the internet and arrived at this forum. I also found the above link
Since there seems to quite a few complaints, I am hoping to hear some recommendations on shipping my laptop to them.
