Stand by issues
I've had this machine for well over 12 months myself, and due to the very impressive performance a colegue also baught the exact same machine. However, both of us are suffering the same issue and it started from day 1 of purchase.
When the laptop is left on, and with power saving modes set to stand-by after X amount of time (either battery or mains powered) the machine will successfully go into stand-by mode. However, Now that the machine has shut itself off, it no longer likes to turn itself back on.
When trying to reboot the machine the bois lights flicker and the (Sexy) blue power/web button lights all come one on initially and then nothing..... Fans and DVD drive operate as normal but the machine doesnt start up. The only option i found to fix this was to leave the laptop to sit in battery powered mode and let the battery drain to completely dead. Then leave the machine pluged into the mains power suply till full charged and then power on the machine for asuccessful boot.
I put up with this cause it didnt happen all that often and only happened when it slipped my mind to ensure the machine didnt stand-by.
So thats compaint #1 of a very short complaint list.
But now i think theres something broken, I was running a PC game in quite intense settings the other day and after a few hours (4 at least) i got scrambled graphics, The machine was extremly hot to touch and couldnt get to the Windows operations to shut down the machine so i had to force power down with the power button. I then let the machine cool, rebooted and played again in a hope that maybe it was a once off graphic problem. But sure enough 30min later same thing, Force power down and now nothing...
The machine wont boot up. The battery charges, the fans operate, the DVD drive spins but no boot. Not even the Bios beep sounds.
Has anyone ever had any same issues?? it seems funny that both mine and a coleague's machines are the same. Bad batch maybe?
Any tips on the no booting?? have i fried my Graphics chips?

G's stalking in his own thread
Just be happy that someone was "home" when you needed help. Hopefully you haven't fried anything~ definitely open the unit up and clean it out. You & your friend'll both want to peruse this 8790 Support section and specifically read the Artifacting threads to see what you're up against being an owner of these fast, but finicky, machines.
