1557 dothan on IBUYPOWER - Page 6

I tried to get a paintjob intially, but the delay would have been at least three weeks. So I opted for the base units.

As far as the logo, when I ordered there was an option not to include the logo, but it seems that option is no longer present on the web site. I bet if you called them and asked for the laptop without the logo they would send it that way.

Also if you do order from them always put "INSTANT" into the coupon code field, for 5% off the order! So $1645 is now $1562!!

RE: Service. Well they don't have the best Reseller Ratings, and I did have a few problems with one order that was dropped, but with a product like this, all they have to do is to put it into a box and send it, so I wasn't too worried. Its not like they had to build the whole thing from scratch, they just sent the order to AOpen. Then upon receipt, send it to me. (with their lackluster XP install) which I was happy to re-do anyway.

Vidmo,

Thanks for the comments! I was under the impression that the 1557's SXGA+ LCD was among the better ones. That was one of my reasons to order it. Bad luck I didn't wait until I saw your review .

maybe the screen really isn't that bad. In other reviews, people have commented on the good quality of the screen. Maybe vidmo just has higher expectancy for screen quality (and there's nothing wrong with that)

Just got a response from cyberpower:

Byron:

you can state in the note section you want the color notebook without
Logo.
But color notebooks will take up to 5 weeks to ship.

thank you,

Steve

I've used my laptop off and on for a few months and have not noticed any heat buildup on the keyboard. Even under full load (running Prime95).

I've asked around with the other two users I gave these too, and they actually feel that this laptop puts out FAR less heat than any other laptops they have used.

I don't feel like the "potential" heat issue is even an issue at all.

And I guess the screen is ok... I still wish it was better though.

The build quality is very good. Unlike my last laptop (Dell Inspiron 8200) which made creaking noises while you typed.
