First off, this is a great forum. Made my first Sager purchased after reading all of the reviews.

I have a 8790 with TV Tuner w/ remote. I am having trouble getting Windows Media Center 2004 to detect the remote. The remote works with the TV software that came with it. The OS was not pre-install. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Man im so close to sending back my 9100 made in Malaysia crap and get a Sager 8790. Please convince me more

Ok Ive built numerous MCE PCs and one thing is for sure it is picky with all remotes except of course it own.
You can pick up an OEM MCE remote here MCE Remote for 30 bucks and it will solve the issue and give you total compatability.

Now my question did MCE pick up the TV-Tuner card? When I say pickup I dont mean in device manager that it does since it is essentially XP with the MCE app built on top. I mean does the Media Center App see it when you run the config? I ask because MCE is really picky with its TV Tuner cards as well. In desktops Ive found that Hauppauge cards to be the best. If it works with MCE that might be the selling point for meand bye bye Dell

Thanks for the feedback. No it did not detect it in the Media Center config. TV tuner works on XP. Does anyone have a working solutions for the remote that came with the Sager and TV tuner for Media Center?

I emailed aver and they said that the remote should only work for the tv tuner and to turn on/off the computer, but nothing else.

I really wanted a utility for the 8790 remote. Those four colored buttons and the two at the top by the "TV" button don't really do anything. I wanted a utility that I could use to program various responses to those buttons--something like my ATI TV Tuner remote on my server.
