The Dell's look cheap!

Is it just me, or does the entire Inspiron (minus the 1150) line look like it's made from CHEAP plastic. The awful blue around the keyboard and mousepad really make these nice lappy's look like plastic toys.
Once they upgrade the looks of these to something more along the lines of the lattitudes, I'll buy one.

guess you're going to have to wait awhile . Don't think its happening soon.

The blue border does suck, but the silver casing and finish is pretty good.

No blue on the XPS And I think the brushed look of the XPS lid looks much nicer than the others.

I agree. The standard lid cover on the Inspiron XPS is very nice. It actually makes the notebook look every bit as expensive as it is.

Its dell thing. U buy it cheap u get cheap stuff.

i have the 8600. body originally really nice for my taste, but then i did the chassis mod to the D800, and now it's even better. Nothing but gun metal and silver it's sexy in my eyes

the dells do look really cheap. Thats one of the main reasons I'm not buying one. Also, they are way too thick. My friend just bought a new one and its ugly.

I've had my XPS since Thursday and was happily surprised at how nice it looked. It looks much better in person than it does in photos, and like someone else said, it looks as expensive as it is.

I have a 9100 and I love the look especially all the blue.
I hate the blue too. Now if Dell can combine the "brushed look of the XPS lid" and the Latitude chasis, then they got something!

You'd rather have a pretty computer than one that performs well?
Well, I personally love the look of the 9100 & 8600. the blue gives it a bright futuristic look and my girlfriend thinks my 9100 is the classiest laptop she has ever seen (She is a fashion designer)

When I look back at my all black Inspiron 5000 it looks positively antique compared to the new coloured Dells
post #13 of 81
Also comparing it to the guys computers at work... Toshiba's, HP, Compaq, and older black Dells, the 9100 out classes them all in my opinion.
The blue gives a very nice contrast. I also like the look of the XPS too... they are all good to look at. I wouldn't say they are ugly at all. But hey, to me, it is just a notebook... I don't care what it looks like. I bought it for the performance and screen quality.

The silver on silver look of the Latitude and Precision series are much better than the blue on silver of the Inspirons (barring the XPS). But that having been said, they are still much better looking and stylish than the majority of the bricks out there from IBM, etc..

It's all personal preferences. For me, I didn't buy the i9100 because of the blue colors.

I just got a new area-51m a few days ago. There is no way I would ever take a Dell over this! That paintjob on it is amazing. It looks like its worth every cent that I payed for it ($3400). It totally blows through games. Even if one of your guys's dells is a shade faster, i can care less. I have a much better looking notebook. It doesn't have that cheap plastic look to it.
